Crescendo

My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: and he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world. (I John 2:1-3 KJV)

Anyone who has experienced a 7.0 earthquake will never forget the seismic “growl” that precedes the shaking. An entourage of thunder gradually intensifies before reaching a crescendo that signals a shifting and grinding beneath our feet—and an accompanying sense of helplessness.

Much like the approach of a seismic event, prophetic thunder is growing louder each day. The atmosphere pulses with uncertainty. Will our nation face nuclear blackmail? A natural climate catastrophe? A breakdown of social order?

Something is coming. A crescendo. We feel it.

So, where do we go for protection? For security?  Is there an earthly icon in whom we can invest our hopes and dreams?

No man, woman, institution, or government can boast:

  • infinite knowledge and foreknowledge of events (omniscience)

  • control over the universe (omnipotence)

  • limitless presence (omnipresence)

except Jesus Christ the Righteous.

The word “righteous” in his title denotes inherent perfection and answers our search for a personal moral code. Upon Jesus Christ the Righteous, we can safely and confidently build a personal standard for our daily decisions and conduct.

According to scripture the force of Jesus’ righteousness tracks with God’s power and sovereignty:

…God has highly exalted Him and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus EVERY KNEE SHALL BOW [in submission], of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and that every tongue will confess and openly acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord (sovereign God), to the glory of God the Father. (Phil. 2:9-11)

Every Christ follower is given access to God’s surpassing “oval office” in heaven where Jesus sits at the right hand of executive deity. Our right-to-enter this throne room has been purchased by Jesus Christ the Righteous, and is open for audience to all who have received God’s gift of salvation.

Like a seismic predicter, the Bible reveals the prophetic progression that places us near the leading edge of an upcoming “tectonic” crescendo. God’s Word calls this thunderous upsurge “the last days,” where tenants of earth either tremble in fear—or stand fast through the advancing roar. The sound is a sign heralding a violent crescendo before the return of Jesus Christ the Righteous.

Our deliverance from the violent crescendo is more certain than the promised cataclysm. Our confidence is in Jesus Christ the Righteous, the “author and finisher of our faith.” And his words comfort us:

Do not let your heart be troubled (afraid, cowardly). Believe [confidently] in God and trust in Him, [have faith, hold on to it, rely on it, keep going and] believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many dwelling places. If it were not so, I would have told you, because I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back again and I will take you to Myself, so that where I am you may be also. ( John 14:1-3AMP)

Let us therefore, receiving a kingdom that is firm and stable and cannot be shaken, offer to God pleasing service and acceptable worship… (Heb.12:28 AMPC)
